“Start your internship as soon as possible. Don’t let your fear of not being good enough or not experienced enough stop you because we are still learning, and we learn by doing.”

Meet Abraham Saputra, currently completing a Double Degree in Bachelor of International Business and Marketing at Monash University, Australia.

What is your role at blueVisions?
I’m doing an internship with the Marketing and Communications team.

What does a day look like in your role?
My typical day starts with checking Microsoft Teams and emails for any updates and tasks. I then open airtable to look at our pipeline of articles and other content before following up with the respective authors. After that, I provide a progress report to the Marketing and Communications team.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of my internship is gaining new experiences, skills, and knowledge. By doing this internship, I have learnt new things, such as time management, multi-tasking – working with several experts, and enhancing my communication skills.

Do you think your internship complements your academic experience?
Yes, it does align with my educational background. It was very much case study analysis and theory-based learning with little practical experience at university. By doing an internship program, I have an opportunity to apply my theoretical knowledge to practical experience. I believe that with theoretical knowledge alone, I would not have been able to produce solid outcomes.

Do you feel that your internship reflects a real work experience?
100% yes. In my internship program, I helped manage a marketing campaign where I learnt about brand identity and tone of voice, implemented new software that the businesses use in the industry, learnt to resolve any issues promptly, managed stakeholders and maintained great working relationships with my colleagues.

What advice would you give to help students who want to work as interns?
Start your internship as soon as possible. Don’t let your fear of not being good enough or not experienced enough stop you because we are still learning, and we learn by doing.
