The Qantas Club & Business Lounge Upgrade project

Overview

The Qantas Club & Business Lounge Upgrade project involved the refurbishment and new fit out for the Qantas Club and the creation of a Business Class Lounge. The project entailed the division of the existing Qantas Club into two separate entities, the upgraded Qantas Club and the new Business Lounge.

blueVisions’ Role

  • Value added project management services including managing all stages of the project lifecycle
  • Serving as the Superintendent’s representative to manage the Contracts

Challenges

  • A significant fit out project within an operational facility with no reduction of use by the public
  • Latent conditions associated with the demolition of the existing fit out and the intended reuse of elements
  • The coordination of external suppliers for interior furnishing and equipment
  • Timely issue of the Airport Building Controller’s Occupancy Certificate to meet project milestones
  • Frequent end user initiated changes to scope
  • A complicated staging plan driven by the need to satisfy Qantas Club’s requirement to continue operation in the middle of significant fit out work

Outcomes

  • Successful completion of this $5.32m project to time and budget with the satisfaction of all stakeholders
  • Despite being completed within an operational facility the project was successfully completed without any customer safety issues
  • This signature facility was delivered for Qantas in time for the Media Launch event
