Dry July is a fundraiser that encourages people to go alcohol-free in July to raise funds for people affected by cancer.
The funds raised as part of your Dry July will provide invaluable services for cancer patients, their families and carers – whether it’s a lift to a life-saving appointment, guidance from a specialist nurse, connection to an informative voice, access to therapy programs or a bed close to treatment.
Since 2008, Dry July has inspired more than 200,000 Australians to go dry, raising $49 million for people affected by cancer, and funding projects at more than 80 cancer organisations across Australia.
This year, two of our team members in the Sydney office, Dallas Arrowsmith our Organisational Development Manager and John Runic our Talent Management Specialist completed successfully completed this supportive challenge, and it has been interesting to learn about what moved them to support this cause by taking on this particular challenge. John had a couple of reasons: firstly he lost both his father (lung cancer) and his father in law (bowel cancer) and saw this as an opportunity to contribute something for the cause. Secondly, he wanted to challenge himself and see if he could abstain from having any alcohol for the whole month – which he proudly did! Dallas has also had close encounters with cancer in his family as well as having worked at an Oncology centre which allowed him to witness firsthand, the effects on cancer not just on the patient but also the people around them.
blueVisions Management and the Institute of Management family are so proud of their accomplishment with the Dry July Campaign, and the Dry July Foundation seems to be as well that they have featured Dallas’ article on their website.
